Hello Emily, good questions! Thanks for watching/reading the How to Cleanse Crystals article. Your Stilbite and Apophyllite must be a beauty. I love Zeolites! I have a few myself.
To answer your questions:
1. Clusters are said to cleanse themselves because they are circulating energy through the multiple points at all times. That being said, if you want to cleanse them with an additional method, it never hurts!
Personally, I do not energetically clean my clusters. For example, in the article/video you see my gigantic Quartz cluster. I just dust it off or wash it off in water, but otherwise, I only worry about energetically charging it up, which is easy because it lives in my windowsill for sunlight and moonlight all day.
I do know people who cleanse their clusters regardless, so it’s a personal decision. After all, everything in the metaphysical world is up to trusting your intuition. First and foremost, remember that this is all about you, it is your healing practice!
2. Although Stilbite does contain aluminum, it is not toxic for you in crystal healing. Like most other “toxic” stones, you would have to be doing some heavy lapidary work where the dust is excessively entering your lungs for a long period of time, or drinking large amounts of Stilbite-infused elixir to have any dangerous effects. Everyday handling should not be a concern for you, but to be on the safe side, you could always just wash your hands before and after.
3. As for allowing your boyfriend to use your cluster, this is another hotly debated topic in crystal healing. Some people won’t even allow you to touch their stones they use for healing. Others feel the crystals are open to all positive people’s energies. You will have to determine how you feel.
Personally, I don’t mind if other people touch the crystals I am using, but if they are in a negative state of mind, I will clean it before using it myself.
You could always experiment and see how you feel letting him use it. If you feel uneasy, it’s probably best to gift him his own cluster to work with!
4. To specifically cleanse Stilbite and Apophyllite, consider that they are both softer stones. Stilbite is softer than Apophyllite, but because they are together in your cluster, I would recommend the smoke or sound method of cleaning. If you have sage/incense/palo santo, they will all do great with clusters. If you have a singing bowl or like to sing yourself, you could choose this method. If you can’t resist the water method (which I love), just don’t scrub, as the Stilbite could be damaged.
I hope that helps in your new endeavors with your cluster!
