Hi, I am interested in buying a selenite crystal ball. I noticed that the one you are selling on your website is much more expensive and than any other selenite ball I have seen. Hi what are selenite crystal spheres coated with and why? Does it affect their spiritual qualities? It seems like it would.

Hello! Just like 99% of carved crystal spheres and shapes, this one has a polished surface.

It is a common polish of compounds, such as cerium oxide, tin oxide, chromium oxide, and aluminum oxide, which are frequently used in polishing gemstones. This coating protects the stones and also gives it a nice gloss.

Selenite shapes and spheres must be polished. Selenite is a soft and flaky crystal. Without the polish to hold it together, small fragments will start chipping off and can even splinter you. 

The polish doesn't affect the metaphysical properties, as most stones have just a thin coat. However, for those who prefer to work with completely natural stones, we suggest clusters and raw gems.
