Hello Sarah!

Elite Shungite is a trade name for Shungite with a higher carbon content than Common Shungite. That being said, the carbon content could range from 90% and up. The other 10% could have other mineral and metal inclusions.

You could also be seeing oxidized pyrite as pyrite is very commonly found with Shungite. You can learn more in our Shungite Meanings page.
