Watch the video on fake vs real Jade

Is it real Nephrite or Jadeite? Watch the video to find out how we use the Gem Tester machine to test all of our Satin Crystals Jade stones.

Lucky for us, Nephrite and Jadeite can both be confirmed with this machine. While Jadeite is easy to identify, the Gem Tester is not good at distinguishing Nephrite Jade. Learn why in the video!

Which is Jadeite? Nephrite? Fake? Watch until the very end to see what happens with the fake!

Should I get a gem tester?

While it's not an end-all-be-all of gemstone identification, the Gem Tester can confirm several popular crystals in your collection.

Before you run out and buy a Gem Tester of your own, you do need to know the basics of gemstone identification. We first look at the color, texture, transparency, weight, temperature, and origin of our suspected Jade before using the machine for verification. Find out how you can narrow down Real vs Fake Jade at home.

Do note that the Gem Tester will not tell you if you have treated vs untreated Jade. The only way to know what kind of Jade you have for sure is to send it to a certified gemological laboratory where they can do the necessary tests.

Where can I buy real Jade?

At Satin Crystals, we have your real Nephrite and Jadeite stones and jewelry as tested in the video. Check out the Jade Collection or shop right here on the blog:

Hi John, welcome to the world of gems! That’s great that you are learning how to cut and facet them yourself! We don’t have time to do that ourselves here, but do admire all the great artisan work that we find from around the world in the gemstone industry.
