Monday was the height of the Super Moon. I caught a glimpse of its beauty two nights in a row while walking in Budapest. It got me quite excited about the energy of the moon and inspired me to share some fun facts about the Super Moon and associated crystals.
In October, November, and December of this year, the moon is at its closest to the earth's orbit and appears huge. Monday's full Supermoon was the closest, largest and brightest since 1948, and the next one will not come this close until Nov. 25 of 2034. It's not too late to go out and admire the large moon this week, and again in December.
It's no surprise that the power of the Supermoon got me thinking about the power of Moonstone. Moonstone is one of the most beautiful crystals. People often gush over the shimmering blue flash rainbows of silky white moonstone, including myself. But you may be interested to know that it comes in a variety of other colors including black, pink, peach, bronze, and brown.
Moonstone is part of the Feldspar family of orthoclase mineral. During formation, the orthoclase and albite separate into alternating layers. You may have seen the incredible flash rainbows or shimmering silver sheen surfaces that appear to billow across Moonstone gems. This scattering light is known as adularescence and is caused when light falls between the stone's layers.
Moonstone is found in a variety of countries such as Brazil, Germany, India, Madagascar, Mexico, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, and the United States.
Aside from its beauty, Moonstone has metaphysical characteristics that many find attractive. Because it holds moon energy, this crystal is associated with enhancing intuition and developing Third Eye Chakra abilities.
Moonstone emits a calming energy, as it is feminine in nature, connecting to the yin and the goddess.
While traveling, Moonstone keeps you safe and guides the journey.
I've personally connected with Moonstone this year much more than in the past. I found an incredible hand made necklace that contains three large peach sheen stones in a silver frame. The necklace is one of a kind and called to me immediately. I also have a new pair of Peach Moonstone drop earrings that I love to wear.
The reason that I love Moonstone this year is because I'm working to balance my yin energies, keep calm, and improve on feminine health.
Whereas most crystals are charged in the sun to renew their power, Moonstone loves to be charged in the moonlight. You can actually charge just about any stone in the moonlight if you are working on intuitive and psychic abilities and wish to infuse these properties into your crystals.
Wondering what other crystals in your collection play well with Moonstone? Here are a few ideas:
Now that you have a glimpse of Moonstone's attractive properties, go more in-depth and expose yourself to this wonderful healing stone. Perhaps it will move up to the top of your list, just like it did for me!
