What chakra is Sunstone?
Sunstone is an excellent crystal to use when working with the Solar Plexus and Sacral chakras. It glows with the confidence of creation.
At the Solar Plexus chakra, Sunstone balances your emotions and strengthens your masculine yang energy. Regardless of sexual orientation, you must have a balance of yin and yang energy. With balance comes confidence in yourself and the shedding of jealousy and the possessiveness of others.
At the Sacral chakra, Sunstone grounds you to the seat of life. It helps you move forward in your personal development. It inspires your creativity to find the solutions that will allow you to move through ruts and obstacles. Sunstone also unblocks obstacles in sexual energy flow at the Sacral chakra.

Sheila's personal experience with Sunstone
To me, Sunstone is associated with the warm energies of the sun, the Light, and living things. It represents the sunny side of life. I like to wear my Sunstone jewelry to add a spark of joy to my day. I am especially attracted to the Sunstones with a deep red spangle.
I have a cup of Sunstone tumbled stones which I run my fingers through whenever I want to lift my thoughts and feel like a ray of sunshine.
Lisa's personal experience with Sunstone
Sunstone is important to me because I write a lot of astrological articles for Satin Crystals. The moon and Moonstone pop up all time as we discuss the Full Moon, New Moon, and Lunar Eclipses. However, Sunstone is an equally important counterpart. The sun is much larger than the Moon and the center of our solar system, after all!
I love how Sunstone is the strongest sun-energy crystal in the kingdom. I charge Sunstone tumbled stones and shapes on the window sill and it makes the home feel brighter. Optimism is something I'm always working to achieve and Sunstone is just right for that. Wearing it as jewelry makes me feel more hopeful all day long.
How do I know if my Sunstone is real?
Real Sunstone is easy to tell from fake Sunstone once you know what you are looking for. Fake Sunstone is also known as Goldstone.
Goldstone is a man-made, opaque reddish-brown, green, or navy blue glass with copper inclusions that are uniform throughout the piece. Once you become familiar with Goldstone, it is easy to distinguish it from real Sunstone. Real Sunstone will not show such uniform color or inclusions as Goldstone.
There is nothing wrong with buying Goldstone, but the vendor should not be passing it off as Sunstone or a natural stone.
How do you care for Sunstone?
Sunstone is one of the crystals that can be cleaned in water. Run it under water or soak it in a bowl of water overnight.
However, you should still be careful using the water method if your Sunstone is in its raw form or has any natural fracture lines within its polished form. In this case, we recommend gently cleaning the crystal with a wet cloth.
Do not use ultrasonic or steam cleaners for Sunstone.
To activate your Sunstone, it benefits to charge your crystal in the sunlight. Place it on a sunny windowsill or outside in the daylight.

Does Sunstone fade in the sun?

What does Sunstone mean in divination?

Where should Sunstone be placed?
Sunstone should be placed anywhere that you want to brighten the energy. If you are feeling dark energy in a particular area of the home, place Sunstone to counteract this vibration.
For Feng Shui energy, place Sunstone in your "Fame and Reputation" top middle area of your space. This space reflects how people see you and you want them to see you in a positive light.

Are Sunstone and Moonstone the same?
Sunstone and Moonstone are both a part of the Feldspar group of crystals. Sunstone is composed of Albite and Anorthite. Moonstone is composed of Albite and Orthoclase.
The two crystals have different appearances. Moonstone has a soft iridescent glow floating on the surface of the stone known as adularescence while Sunstone has a sparkling glitter within the stone known as aventurescence.
In crystal healing, masculine Sunstone and Feminine Moonstone make a great astrological pair. The combination of active power and soothing calm brings you to a state of harmony. Use both crystals in your sun and moon rituals to balance your yang and yin energy.
Is Sunstone an Agate?
You may be confused between Sunstone and Fire Agate. They can both have a sparkling red glow. That is where the similarities end.
Sunstone is a Feldspar stone that gets its color and shine from metallic inclusions. Fire Agate is a Chalcedony stone that gets its color and shine from layers of Iron Oxide of Limonite.
How do you tell the difference between Sunstone and Aventurine?
If you have a Sunstone and Aventurine in the same color with the same spangled inclusions, it may be hard for you to tell the difference.
Sunstone, a Feldspar, and Aventurine, a Quartz, both have aventurescence, meaning that they show glittering flashes of inclusion. They are also approximately the same in hardness and can be found in the same rock. They also overlap in colors.
The best way to tell the difference is to familiarize yourself with real versions of both stones. The second way is to buy from a trusted vendor who is educated in crystals. And, the final way is to send your stone in to a certified gemological labratory for analysis.
What was the Viking Sunstone?
The Viking Sunstone was most likely Optical Calcite. In Sunstone articles around the internet, you will find them giving credit to Vikings for using Sunstone in their navigations.
However, in 2011 it has been theorized that the Vikings were actually using Optical Calcite, a crystal common in the Scandanavian area. It was determined that moving Optical Calcite in and out of the sailors' field of vision made them see a double dot pattern that lined up with the direction of the Sun behind the clouds.

Sunstone is found worldwide with important sources in Sweden, Tanzania, India, Sri Lanka, Norway, Australia, China, Canada, and Oregon in The United States.
Does Sunstone have glitter?
Sunstone may look like it has glitter because of the metallic mineral inclusions within the stone. Depending on the concentration of minerals when the stone is formed will determine the amount of glitter seen in the final Sunstone.
In scientific terms, this metallic glitter is known as schiller or aventurescence. Aventurescence occurs when light reflects off the mineral inclusions and causes a flash when the stone is seen at certain angles.
How do you identify Oregon Sunstone?
Oregon Sunstone is highly prized for its range of colors from clear to orange to red to green. It is the only Sunstone to have Copper inclusions creating its metallic glitter. The more Copper in the stone, the brighter red the Sunstone.
Oregon Sunstone is one of the most expensive Sunstones because of its rarity and high concentration of sparkling Copper minerals suspended in the stone.
Sunstone is also known as Oregon's state gemstone and is only found in Southern Oregon.
Does Sunstone change color?
Sunstone can change colors depending on the angle you are viewing the stone. While it does not physically change colors, the way the light reflects on the metallic inclusions of Sunstone can cause it to look different.
