    Hi Sofia, this is a brass chain that is plated with a black gunmetal. It won't rust, but it may peel or wear down and "antique" over time most plated metals do. From Google: “Gunmetal” is Tin Bronze casting alloy 88% Copper,10 % Tin, 2 % Zinc.
