How to Measure Chakras with a Pendulum
Did you know that you can measure the flow of the chakras using a crystal pendulum? Perhaps you have heard of open chakras and blocked chakras, but what about everything in between?

What is a chakra?
Chakra means Wheel in Sanskrit. The body has spinning energy centers that look like spinning wheels with fan blades and are called chakras. These energy centers receive and transmit energy. Each chakra is connected with a different part of the body.
There are seven main chakras. Each chakra has an associated color. To promote physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being, they must be cleansed and balanced.
What does a chakra look like?
An adult chakra is conical and contains channels or cones.
Pre-birth, there is a protective film that protects the soul. When the soul enters the body, that film dissolves and the soul becomes subject to energetic flows.
In infancy, the chakras are protected by a milky film which gradually dissipates as the chakra grows to adult form. Around age 7, a protective shield forms over the chakra opening and protects against excess influence from outside.
The Chakra Matrix
Looking down from the top of the spinning chakra towards the meridian, the outside of the chakra is spinning clockwise, sucking the energy inward. The outside of the chakra spins counterclockwise.
The Chakra Matrix is spiritual DNA – a cosmic hieroglyph language. Looking down into the chakra you see a chakra mosaic, like small colored tiles. Each chakra mosaic is unique and contains the programming for this life, which cannot be changed.
Within the chakra are unique plates set with mosaic-like tiles that contain particular patterns for the individual. The plates resemble fan blades and spin at an incredible speed, blurring the unique mosaic. It is hard to imagine the beauty and intricacy of the sacred mosaic patterns.
The points at the outer perimeter of the chakra will be the main color of the chakra. Colors within the chakra mosaic are unique to each individual.

Why should you measure chakra flows?
In your busy life, chakra energies become unbalanced or blocked. A blocked chakra can impede progress.
For example, if your Throat chakra becomes blocked, you may find it hard to express your feelings and communicate. Should your Root chakra energy spin in the wrong direction, you could have trouble manifesting material goals. Therefore, it is important to keep the chakras open and flowing clockwise.
Which pendulums can measure chakra flows?
Proper usage of a crystal pendulum can help you determine the state of the chakras. While any type of crystal pendulum can be used for dowsing, it is best to use a Clear Quartz pendulum for measuring the chakras. The movement of the pendulum in each chakra shows whether the chakra is opened or closed with any blockages.
This technique can be used effectively on others. However, do not attempt to measure your own chakras as you do need an impartial hand of a friend or a crystal healer to evaluate your energy flows.
After the chakras are measured, a crystal wand is used to cleanse, open, and balance the energy of the chakras.
How do you measure chakras with a pendulum?
The Quartz Pendulum is recommended for measuring chakras. As you gain more experience with the process, you can advance to using various crystal pendulums of your choice.
Here are the steps to chakra measuring:

Ask your friend or client to lie down flat on their back on the floor or bed. Have them take off any metals that may disrupt the process, other than pure silver or gold.

Place the crystal pendulum in your receptive hand (left hand if you are right-handed, right hand if you are left-handed), holding it by the end of the chain between your thumb and forefinger.

Stand over the client and place the pendulum 2-4 inches above their feet. Although this is not one of the major chakras, we measure here to determine if they are receiving proper grounding and earth energy.

Take note of which way the pendulum is moving (clockwise, counterclockwise, vertical, horizontal, chaotic, no movement, etc.)

Proceed to the next chakra (1st/root), and place the pendulum 2-4 inches above the chakra.

Continue through this process until all of the major chakras up to the 7th/Crown have been measured.
After completion, you will want to determine the state of your client’s chakras. Remember that the figures and symbols you have drawn of the chakra movement are from your perspective. If the pendulum inclines to your left, it is inclining to the client’s right, and vice versa.
How do you interpret pendulum movements?
You should now have 8 drawings of the various movements from your client (Earth energy at the feet and their 7 chakra measurements). Advanced healers will want to use the Pendulum Chakra Chart to interpret the nuanced meanings of each movement. This is discussed in the next section.
The general interpretation of Chakra movements is as such:
- Clockwise (from your perspective) is good, healthy, and open.
- Clockwise but elliptical means the energy is starting to block.
- Counterclockwise means there is energy going in but no energy leaving from the back.
- Movement to the left (right from your perspective) is passive, yin energy.
- Movement to the right (left from your perspective) is aggressive, yang energy.
- Vertical movement along the body: subconscious denial, something is blocked.
- Horizontal movement along the body: conscious denial.
- No movement means the chakra is completely closed.

How do you open chakras with crystal wands?
Once you’ve determined the state of your client’s chakras with a Quartz pendulum, you want to cleanse and open them.
Use a pointed crystal wand and move the tip 2 to 3 inches over the client’s chakra in a clockwise motion for 2 to 5 minutes per chakra, until energy moves freely. Use your giving hand (right hand if you are right-handed and vice versa).
